Seva-Wilde Ganzen-BASUG ‘Women Enterprise Project’
The 2nd phase of the 18 month long project titled, “Ensure Development Activities for Vulnerable and Under Privileged Rural Women in Bangladesh” is on progress. Being co-financed by Seva Network Foundation and Wilde Ganzen under ‘matching fund’ system, the project is being implemented by BASUG’s local partner, Endeavour in Bangladesh.

BASUG Medical Camp for the Poor

BASUG set up a Medical camp in a village Karal under Patiya, Chittagong for the poor people of the area in mid-May this year. The poor people of the locality have now been receiving free medical check up twice in a month. There is no health assistant in that area, forget about a qualified doctor. BASUG Chairman who was visiting Bangladesh during that time attended the opening ceremony of the medical camp.

 
Climate migration Conference in Bonn 21-23 July: More challenges ahead for Bangladesh - BASUG joins

The 1st International Conference on “Climate change effects and En-ergy development of Bangladesh” (ICCEB) has been held at the University of Bonn Germany on 21-23 July, 2011. The conference is jointly organized by BSEZ and BEN-Germany, in association with the Universities of Bonn, Cologne and Heidelberg.

 
BASUG chairman, Bikash Chowdhury Barua has presented a paper in the conference, titled “Climate Change and Diaspora Organizations: Role and Responsibilities”. BASUG Advisor and Director of Projects, Dr. Ahmed Ziauddin has chaired one of the sessions. Read more about it in our latest newsletter.
 
BASUG's Field trip Bangladesh on Remittances

In May 2011, BASUG and Triple L (TNU) travelled to Bangladesh to conduct one major conference and two stakeholders meetings on “Remittances for Community Development” (RfCD) with development stakeholders in Bangladesh. In between the conference and the stakeholders meetings, the partners had the opportunity to speak to numerous organizations active in the field of migration & development, visit several projects related to remittances.
